ASOIAF FILK SONG: GLORY DAYS (SPOILERS)

This at first inspired me as a Robert Baratheon song, then the main character changed. It's a later stage of the character, of course. The original is the well-known Bruce Springsteen song (my, was he young!) I still can't find a synonym for "dying" better than "bowing out", that's the only part that bugs me. I love the next-to-last verse.

GLORY DAYS

I knew a man who was king of Westeros
For a good many years
He could swing that war-hammer at you
Make you crap in your pants, kid
Saw him one night in his castle bedroom
I was walking in, he was... bowing out
I think someone gave him a poisoned drink
But all he kept talking about was

Glory days, well they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Well there's the queen who's also my lover
Even though we are brother and sister
Sometimes in the evening I stop by and have a quickie
After she put our kids to bed
Her and her husband Robert, well they split up
I guess it's because he's dead now
We just lie in bed talking about the old times
She says when she looks at Tyrion she starts laughing,
thinking about

Glory days, well they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Now I think I'm going down to the inn tonight
And I'm going to drink till I get my fill
And I hope if I get old I don't sit around thinking about it
But I probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of...
Well, time slips away and leaves you with nothing, Brienne
But boring stories of

Glory days...
