"You have to be more organized with your medicines. You must always have the prescription with you. They are kind to give us your medicines without prescription, but they could get into trouble, so take care to always have your prescription with you, because you never bring it, blah blah blah." Bit pissed off. First, I ALWAYS have my prescriptions with me. I can safely say my medicines are life-saving, because if I don't take them at the right moment I could happily kill someone. So I live with my prescriptions close to my heart beside my tiny Peterbilt model. I forgot this time, and maybe another time a few months ago, because I have a new backpack and forgot to put my organizer with the prescriptions in it. Second, more organized? Wha? It's not just the medicines and prescriptions: since I travel a lot, I must take enormous care to have ALWAYS the indispensable things that allow me to live and work wherever I am. Also taking into account a memory which is worth squat and requires an incredible amount of tricks and caution. My essentials are: - Medicines - Palm Top - Chargers, SD cards, Flash cards etc. - Organizer - First aid kit (including perfume, spare charger, tampons...) - Camera (not essential to survival, but useful if I see a beautiful crane in the sky like the other day.) - Phone and wallet with IDs, which I rarely forget because they are chained to my person at all times. - Usually my laptop, but if I can I make do with the flash cards. I don't leave my home for more than one day without this. I can't afford it. (People say I go around with my own home, I'd rather think of it as a paratrooper's kit.) So it's extremely offensive to me when someone says I'm not organized and lectures me as though I always forgot my important stuff around, and especially as though I could do something about it. Since I'm ALWAYS prepared, forgetting something is a fluke that goes beyond my will. Saying "Don't forget it next time" is pointless, it's not like I did it on purpose. (One thing I can do, though, is print out the above list and stick it to the door.) And lastly, it's a bit rich that the lecture comes from people who routinely pack their bags the very morning they need to leave, usually forgetting everything, with ensuing hysteria and tantrums and backbiting.
