No, I did not model her after Paulo Coelho's Brida. I was quite shocked when I found this book today in the bookstore looking for presents! Judging from the B&N synopses, this Brida too has to do with magic. Heck, I don't want to change the name of my priestess for this. I'm too fond of her. Let people think it's a homage to Coelho, whom I've never read. But it's weird! Is it possible that I saw the book somewhere, registered it unconsciously and came up with it again when I was looking for a name that could sound Celtic but also Latin for my priestess? "Bridey" is a popular name for Brighid, and "Brida" is also a common family name here in Italy, so it was pretty obvious for me.
