REMEMBERING BILL MILLIN
Look out also for Lord Lovat at 2"... I have tears in my eyes.
I'd love to have his son read my novel, "Wall of Sunset". He'd be happy, I think. Bill is the real protagonist, alongside my own Mary Sue. Lovat is important too, but he has an uncomfortable role. I think the current Lord Lovat would be harder to persuade.
I love the guy at the end that says he wants to be Bill Millin, not Spiderman or Batman. I totally understand. Notice how Millin always wore the Lovat emblem on his beret. And notice how cute he looked in that pic at the end of the clip. Both he and Lovat were vastly more handsome than the men who played them in "The Longest Day"; Peter Lawford IS handsome, but Lord Lovat was in a class by himself.
Moving. Old Millin reminiscing. Due tribute to the Airborne guys who held Pegasus Bridge. I have his book, I bought it used on Amazon - it's wonderful.
James McAvoy will never be too old to play 21-year-old Millin. A good Lord Lovat is harder to find. I'd like Gerard Butler (unfeasible) or Philip Glenister (feasible?) to play Derek Mills-Roberts. I should let his daughter read the novel too, Derek is great in it. But I know nothing about his family...
