Winter is Coming, la mia fonte per la serie HBO "Game of Thrones", in questi giorni è letteralmente esplosa, con una pioggia di attori scelti per molti ruoli principali. Date un'occhiata: molti qui sono sconosciuti e i nomi non significherebbero gran che. Ma abbiamo GREGOR (incredibilmente simpatico e comunicativo con i fans), Loras, Jory Cassel, Ditocorto e uno dei miei preferiti: Barristan Selmy. Solo dalle foto direi che sono ottime scelte. Molti sono attori irlandesi di teatro, come il nostro Barristan (Ian McElhinney, non lo imparerò mai, figuriamoci pronunciarlo). Ha un bellissimo sguardo. Non vedo l'ora di vedere la scena in cui viene scacciato dalla Guardia del Re - come il vecchio guerriero trasmetterà la sua umiliazione e rabbia e incrollabile dignità. Anche i commenti sono esplosi, quindi non ho ancora osato buttarmi. Ma ho notato che molti considerano Ian McE (da non confondere con Ian McNiece che interpreta Illyrio), a 62 anni, troppo GIOVANE per la parte. (SPOILER: Qualcuno ha commentato che quando il regista chiama "Ian" otterrà 3 risposte dal seguito di Daenerys - non dimentichiamo il mio amato Iain Glen.) C'è una serie di calcoli sull'età di Barristan, derivata dalla cronologia, ma da quello che ho capito la cronologia non è ufficiale. In realtà sono sollevata, perché non dovrebbero scegliere qualcuno molto più vecchio di Barristan per il Pescenero, che sia vera o no la mia teoria che i due finiranno per combattersi. Anche senza i film che mi faccio in testa, ho sempre considerato i due illustri vecchi guerrieri di Westeros (e oltre) simili in età e aspetto generale. Quindi non dovrei preoccuparmi che diano a qualche mummia di teatro la parte di Bryn - il nostro deve poter saltare da un palco, spalancare portali, cavalcare e combattere e nuotare sotto una saracinesca, dopo tutto. Datemi un 55-60enne in forma ragionevole, con occhi blu e tanti capelli, e sarò contenta. But we now have GREGOR (exceptionally nice and chatty with fans), Loras, Jory Cassel, Littlefinger and one of my faves: Barristan Selmy. Just judging from the pics, these are great choices. Many are Irish theatre actors, like our Barristan (Ian McElhinney, I'll never learn his name, let alone pronounce it). He has wonderful eyes. I can't wait to see the scene when he is cast away from the Kingsguard - how the old warrior will convey his humiliation and rage and undying dignity. The comments have exploded too, so I haven't dared plunge in yet. But I did notice that many consider Ian McE (not to be confused with Ian McNiece who plays Illyrio), at 62, too YOUNG for the role. I'm actually relieved, because they can't cast someone much older than Barristan for the Blackfish, whether or not my hunch that these two are meant to fight each other is true. Even without the movies in my head, I've always considered the two great old warriors of Westeros (and beyond) to be similar in age and general looks. So I should not worry about them casting some theatre mummy as Bryn - the guy has to jump down from a dais, burst doors open, ride and fight and swim under a portcullis, after all. Give me a reasonably fit 55-60 with blue eyes and lots of hair, and I'll be happy. The problem is another - WILL they cast the Blackfish? o_O |
