Per mettere a tacere tutte queste voci su Barristan Selmy (o no), ho deciso di raccontarmi da sola la storia di com'è andata. Ma è difficile immaginare due guerrieri belli, carismatici e, uhm... non più tanto giovani, quando erano appena agli inizi della loro carriera. Ho aperto una rivista di cinema e la verità è saltata fuori in tutta la sua gloria testosteronica. Il giovane Pescenero non può essere altri che la versione Prince-of-Persia di Jake Gyllenhaal! (godetevi la splendida foto, è l'unica che ho trovato dove non abbia davvero l'espressività di una trota.) Capelli rossi, ovviamente. Il giovane Barristan è Jamie Bamber. Lo so, è una scelta un po' strana, dato che il rosso è LUI. Ma possiede una certa gravità, un tranquillo orgoglio e una forza nascosta che nella mia mente potrebbe evolversi bene nel grande Lord Comandante, prima umiliato e ora in cerca di redenzione. C'è anche una certa differenza di età, che va bene perché mi vedo Barristan leggermente più vecchio di Brynden. Naturalmente entrambi gli attori hanno circa 10 anni di più dei personaggi, ma questo sembra un fatto assodato anche nella serie HBO, ed è coerente con la maturazione forzata dei giovani in un mondo pseudo-medioevale. Trivia: "Gyllenhaal" si pronuncia con una G dolce, come "Jill". But it's hard to picture two handsome, charismatic, uhm... not-so young warriors when they were just beginning their careers. I opened a movie magazine and the truth jumped out in all its testosterone-filled glory. The young Blackfish can be nobody else but the Prince-of-Persia version of Jake Gyllenhaal! (enjoy the gorgeous pic, it's the only one I've found where he doesn't actually have the expressivity of a trout.) Red hair required, of course. The young Barristan is Jamie Bamber. I know, a bit of an odd choice, since HE is the redhead. But he has a certain gravitas, quiet pride and subdued strength that in my mind might evolve well into the great Lord Commander, first humiliated and now in search of redemption. There's also a difference in age, which fits as I see Barristan slightly older than Brynden. Of course both actors are about ten years older than the characters, but that seems to be the trend in the HBO series too, and is in keeping with the forced growing-up young people were subjected to in a mediaeval-like world. Trivia: "Gyllenhaal" is pronounced with a soft G, like "Jill". No, seriously, won't someone just kill me now? |
