The movie was fine, but let's talk about Deadpool! He's one of my favourite Marvel characters. When I saw the very handsome Ryan Reynolds (got to keep an eye on him) wielding two katanas, spouting silliness and being called "Wade" (I didn't catch his last name, or maybe it wasn't even mentioned in the Italian version), I immediately thought of Deadpool - Wade Wilson. Note: I wasn't spoiled. When they said he was dead, I didn't entirely give up hope. And indeed at the end he became Deadpool, but a zombified version I didn't like much. For goodness' sake, he's called "the merc with a mouth", and you sew up his? However, I think they were playing a bit with us, because one of the alternative post-credits endings shows a hand rise from the rubble, grope about and find a severed head that opens its eyes, looks at the audience and says "Shhhh" through a slit mouth, thus breaking the fourth wall, which is a speciality of Deadpool in the comics. So I harbour hopes that the upcoming (?) movie "Deadpool" will feature a version closer to the character we know and love. For the rest, I liked mostly everything, I don't care very much about inconsistencies (Sabretooth not knowing in X-Men 1 that Wolvie is his bro) and I really want to see it in English to appreciate Gambit's accent more fully! |
